So like I said before we went down with our good friends Ben and Anisha and their little boy Max to Yosemite a couple of weekends ago. On Saturday we did an awesome hike through the sequoias.
The reason I'm standing so funny is I threw my back out a couple hours before we left....and decided to go anyway. In hindsight.....probably wasn't the best idea to go camping let alone hiking, but I didn't want to pass up the opportunity!
This was a pretty cool tree although it makes me sad that they cut through it like this. I guess they did it a LONG time ago and the tree is still alive so that makes me feel a bit better.
Naughty people carving into the inside of the tree........but it actually looked pretty cool as a whole.
Max was so tired, but we weren't done hiking so Anisha rigged up a bottle holder with her sweater and laid him back as far as he could go so he could take a little snooze.
This tree is called the Faithful Couple. You can't see it very well but the tree splits into two half way up, or two trees grew together.......we don't really know which, but it's pretty cool looking.

Anisha took a turn holding Max. It was really funny seeing her with this huge backpack and Ben with a little mini one on.
Opal of course slept through the whole thing. I guess that's good but I wish she could have seen some of it. She kind of slumped to the side of the Ergo but Jon was too scared to move her because he didn't want to wake her up.

It was so pretty seeing the Yosemite falls.
Me and Anisha.....I love this girl! She was a bit nervous to go camping with Max, but was a total trooper and they both ended up loving it!

This was how Opal slept in the tent. She was bundled up so much she could barley move...is that why she slept so well? Since coming home we have tried to recreate this sleeping situation....but have failed. We dressed her up just like this and opened her window and put on river music, but it didn't work.
Oh man I can't wait to go camping again and get more than two hours of solid sleep!

Me and Anisha were a little freaked out about bears. There are warnings all over and you have to put all of your food and ANYTHING that has a scent in a heavy duty bear canister. The first night we were there I heard a bear growling right outside our tent. I was momentarily scared out of my mind.......until I realized it was Jon snoring.
