so so tired

Since we have been home from Thanksgiving vacation Jon has been so busy. I've noticed him being a bit scatter brained. I didn't realize how bad it was until a couple days ago I opened the fridge and there was our cereal box sitting right next to the milk. Poor Jon is ready for another break already.

I have the craziest smeller right now! The other day at the end of the shift I swore I could smell cigarrette smoke. Nobody else could smell it, so I thought I was crazy. I folllowed my nose to the culprit: a patient sitting on his bed smoking next to his oxygen. Don't worry I let him have it!

Oh what a trip

 So we went home to Utah for thanksgiving. We decided to leave Tuesday night after Jon was done with clinic and drive half way so we could have more time with family.

 Unfortunately the weather was not so good. Fortunately our friend from high school/dental school, Jimmy, was there to help Jon put on the chains. I really don't think I would have been much help.

 Luckily by the time we got on the road the weather was clear, but obviously it had been snowing a ton as you can tell by the build up on the side of the road.

 Oh and did I mention it was FREEZING! It was probably close to zero degrees and that is no exaggeration. Poor Jon on the ice road putting the chains on one side.....

 ...and Jimmy on the icey road putting chains on the other side. And yes, I sat in the car with the heater blasting watching them.....and snapping a few pics.

 We had to drive 40 mph through the whole Sierra Mountains. Wow...that took a long time. We finally stayed in Winnemucka for the night where it was -3 degrees. We ended up in the same motel as we did when we moved to San Francisco...."Winner's Motel" and let me tell you it's a reeeeaaal winner.  It was just as bad as we remembered it. Oh and of course someone had accidentally left the door open so it was also -3 degrees in our room! Don't worry I got us a five dollar discount for that.

 The next morning our big problem was that our windshield wiper fluid was frozen. Turns out they don't use a deicer in their fluid in San Francisco because of the pollution. At every gas stop the boys would pour hot water on the reservoir to melt it....but that thing was a solid ice block! Our next move was to buy some wiper fluid with deicer. When we got splatted by a passing truck one of us would reach out the window and pour some on the windshield. This turned out to be very cold, wet and messy, but it was better than not being able to see while driving.

 And then there was the Jimmy feet problem. He had cold toes. At one point I looked back and he had his fingers interlocked with his TOES. I believe the only time fingers and toes should be interlocked is right after a bath!

We finally made it to good old Provo safe and sound.

 So this is the final product of the crib skirt and bumper that Jon and I made.

 I'm going to say that I'm pretty dang proud of myself for these bumpers. I just made up my own pattern and it was the first time I've done pipping. It actually turned out very nice. Obviously nothing perfect about them but I don't think our little girl will notice.  It will just bug me more than anything.

We are Dorks

I just realized how dorky Jon and I are after our Friday night date, which consisted of:

1. Going to a delicious Italian restaurant in West Portal (I think this was the only not dorky thing we did).

2. Going to Harry Potter on opening night surrounded by so many tweeners that the theater manager had to make a special in-person announcement that "texting during a movie is not allowed!"

3. Coming home at 9:30 pm and getting into bed (soooooo tired!)

4. Somehow getting into a wedgie war for half an hour until I started laughing like an old man, which turned into a coughing fit...

Anyway, wouldn't change that Friday night for anything.

Have I mentioned.....

Have I mentioned that I have the coolest husband ever? I've been very busy/stressed with getting baby and Christmas stuff ready. I had decided to sew a crib skirt and bumper because I couldn't find any that I liked. Finishing them has been on my to do list for a looooong time. The other Friday night, I was headed off to work and Jon told me not to worry he would sew the crib skirt for me so I'd have one less thing to worry about. I came home the next morning and he had finished it....and it's perfect! How rad is that! I'm so lucky to have such a great man/seamster in my life. I'll post some pictures of the final product once I'm done with the bumpers.

I forgot to mention the other cute thing he did. Jon had to go to a conference for his scholarship in Alabama last week. I woke up from my Sunday nap to the most delicious smell. He was cooking his Mom's white bean chilli! Oh man it was delicious. He made a huge pot of it, which I thought was kind of weird since obviously there are only two of us. Then he went on to explaine that he made extra so I would have a ready made meal I just needed to warm up while he was gone. How thoughtful is that! I think he got that from his Mom who makes his Dad meals and freezes them before she goes out of town, so he doesn't just eat pbj's and cereal...........which is probably what I would have done had Jon not made said chilli.

Haloweeeeeeeeeeeen

This is kind of a lame post, because we didn't take a lot of pictures, but......here we are. Can you guess what I was? For anyone who doesn't get it Bun in the oven and Jon is The Baker....he he he he he he. Jon made my oven costume and I sewed his GIGANTIC chef's hat. We wanted to dress as something a bit more subtle this year since last year when we walked into the party all the little kiddies started crying. Oh and I won funniest costume at our ward party!

Belly Update

I'm loosing track of the weeks now but I'm about seven months now, due January 30th. I've been feeling really great on my days off, but working is killer lately. Luckily I have the most wonderful husband who gives me many foot massages and does many favors for me. I'm loving being pregnant It is so rad feeling her moving and kicking all the time.

We went to the Farmers Market one morning and decided to stop by a free museum Jon had heard about. Turn out the museum was more of a gift shop with a couple of pictures on the wall, but it was still fun to walk through.

Of course we had to walk across the Golden Gate Bridge. It was already a cold and foggy day, but it is always 10 times foggier and windier on that bridge.

We did the classic Lombard street and when we were walking back to our car Nicole spotted this open house! It was soooo amazing. We wanted to see inside a SF house. I can't remember how much the guy said it was selling for, but it was so much that I couldn't comprehend it.

Then we made our traditional stop at Bob's donuts.

Nicole and Casey went and checked out some sights the morning they arrive while I was taking a nap because I had worked the night before.  Casey found this sign in one of the house's......man it would be annoying to live there and have people stopping by your house and taking pictures all the time.

My favorite tourist thing to do in San Francisco is visit/watch the sea lions.  They are sooo  funny. We watched them for at least 15 min. They push each other off the docks and fight and crawl all over each other. Pure entertainment for me.

Jon, Casey and Nicole took the ferry out to Alcatraz and took a tour around there for a couple of hours.

When they got back after we ate dinner we watched The Rock. And we were tying to think of all the movies set in San Francsico......how many can you think of?

I love these GUYS!

Nicole and Casey came to visit us in SF. It was so good to see them. I actually didn't think it would ever really happen since they are so busy with school and work. But it did and it was awesome!

 We got a new Wii game Just Dance....wow it's a workout and super hilarious to watch each other. 

 We did some classic tourist things which is always fun to do because Jon and I forget to do that on our own.

Halloween Tradition

 Our good friends Kristine and Jason are so nice to always put on a Halloween carving, eating, and movie night for the "first years". I know these guys are in their third year now, but I will still always think of them as first years.

 Kristine as usual put on a banquet feast that was SOOOOO delicious! Our group consisted of Taisja and Brady, Rischel and Jon, Kristine and Jason and Ben, and Me and Jon of course.

 I think it's so cute how much Ben loves Jon. He was all snuggled up on his lap and once again it made me excited to see Jon with our girl.

 I'll have to say this group carves the best pumpkins I've ever seen!

 This was Jon's. He was so tired he gave up at the end and I helped him finish it....he did all the hard parts though. Isn't it amazing? It's a ship if you can't tell.

CONGRATULATIONS JON!

So Jon and I decided that he would apply for a special scholarship. It's called the National Health Service Corps.......it's super hard to get into.........and HE GOT IT!!!!!!

What this means is that our next two years of dental school will be paid for as well as a stipend that will help with our rent. This of course takes a lot of pressure off me to be the sole provider, although I do still intend to work after the baby. 

The whole point of the scholarship is that after Jon graduates, he will work for two years in an under served community. This could be somewhere like an inner city or the boondocks of Nebraska. Either way we are super excited. Jon will be working with/for another dentist and will be able to improve his skills and speed during those two years. And my favorite part is that we don't have to decided where to settle down for a couple more years after school......because we still have no idea where we want to live. Once you pick a place to set up a practise and get clients it isn't very easy to move around when ever you want......which is what we seem to do.

So anyway good job Jon! I am so proud of you and the hard work you do. And of course a special thanks to my sister Rachel who is always there to support us with essay questions and revisions!

Yes we are having a girl! I am due January 30th.......so I am about six months now. Can't believe how soon it is coming up!

Summer Vacation in Utah

The first few days in Utah we hung out with the Brownings. We went on a fun/beautiful trip up the canyon. We road the lift up to the top of Sundance and then hiked the rest of the way up to Stewart Falls. It was actually more of a hike than any of us expected but it was still beautiful.

It was nice seeing the changing colors. It really felt like fall. The trees in San Francisco always stay green so I kind of forget what season it is.

This was the first time Gary and Joan had ever been to Stewart Falls.

Later that week we went to Zions with my sister and brother-in-law and niece. We stopped in Beaver which is a tradition of the Ligairi's because they broke down there on the way back from their honeymoon.

Zoe absolutely loved the gigantic rocking chair as you can imagine.

We went on a few "walks" for the boys and "hikes" for the pregnant ladies. It was soo hot and pretty.

Zoe was so cute with Uncle Jon. Always holding his hand. It made me really excited to see him with our little girl.

On one of our hike/walks there was a rad waterfall that you could stand under. It felt super to get sprayed a bit because of the heat.

When we got back to our campsite a squirl had eaten our watermelon. You could even see little teeth marks. Zoe was lovin it.

We hiked up the beinning of the narrows and walked in the freezing water. Again, it felt great seeing as how it was a billion degrees! Zoe was such a good little hiker!

The two afternoons we were there we made it tradition after our hikes to get slurpies and go to the park. Little Zoe would run around and we would sit in the shade trying hard not to melt.

Jon had gone down to Zions earlier in the morning with some of his buddies to grab us a campsite because they were going quick and Rachel and Josh still had some work to do. He hiked up Angel's Landing.....which looks totally freeky to me.

.......And they also hiked up the narrows through all that freezing water.

These squirrels were crazy tame, they were. I was bending down bcause I wanted to pet them, but Jon said I better not because of rabies and stuff.............what would I do without him...........probably have rabies.
